To kick off this year in the midst of your potential resolutions, vision boards and new habits, it is critical to …
Lesson #1 Know the Difference Between A Goal versus A Desire
Do you find yourself continually frustrated over the setting of goals and not completing them? If so, then lets release some of that unnecessary stress right now. A goal cannot be blocked. A goal is something that involves two things within your control: 1.Your attitude 2. Your effort.
That’s it. If someone or something external to you can come in and destroy your goal, then you had a faulty goal to begin with. A goal involves … YOU!
A desire on the other hand can and often does involve others; specific circumstances, people, favorable conditions, hopes, wishes, etc. Desires are important to have as they can provide healthy motivation and fuel accomplishment to your plans. However, when your plans do not come into fruition like you mapped them out to do - you must find resolve in understanding your purpose in life can not be thwarted and can never be dependent upon something which you have no control. That which is external to you, gifts you the opportunity to respond from your internal attitude and external effort.
When we do not understand this difference, people spend time devoting their purpose in life to wavering validation; and like the true form of a wave, one can not be stable in this condition. If you find your emotions to be constantly unstable or consistently search for your life’s purpose then I challenge you to reexamine your goals.
List out all you want for your life, separating your goals from your desires. And when in doubt, KNOW that you are in control of your true goal(s) - which can never be blocked.
Stay tuned for this lesson fleshed out more in depth on my end-month video series. Until then I invite you to share your thoughts, questions and concerns via my contact below. Cheers to New Goals!
